Analysing your Scores

Scorecard Overview: From First to Last Line

Differential Scores are shown as plus numbers (e.g., +2) and indicate:

  • In Stroke Play mode: The difference between your score and the course's Par.
  • In Stableford mode: The points awarded on each hole are based on your handicap.

Hole Number: The small numbers display the specific hole's number on the course.

Par: The par for a hole represents the number of strokes an expert golfer (handicap 0) should ideally need to complete the hole from tee to cup.

  • Par 3: A shorter hole, typically completed in three strokes.
  • Par 4: A medium-length hole, typically completed in four strokes.
  • Par 5: A longer hole, typically completed in five strokes.
  • Par 6: An exceptionally long hole, occasionally found, typically completed in six strokes.

Playing Tee: This line shows the colour/name of your starting tee and the distances for that tee. Distances can be displayed in either meters or yards, depending on your preferences.

S. Index (Stroke Index): This indicates the relative difficulty of each hole compared to the others on the course. Each hole is assigned a unique Stroke Index (SI) number, from 1 to 18 on an 18-hole course. SI 1 denotes the most challenging hole, while SI 18 represents the least challenging.

Your Name + P.HCP (Playing Handicap): This line shows each player's name (with a separate line for each golfer in multiplayer rounds), their Playing Handicap, and the total number of strokes per hole (including putts). Additional details are represented by colours and dots.

The Playing Handicap reflects the number of handicap strokes a golfer receives on a specific course, adjusted for its difficulty. This adjustment helps ensure fair competition among players of varying skill levels.

Golf Scoring Terms - colour-coded with the key on the top right of the Scorecard:

  • Light Grey: Par – the expected number of strokes for an expert golfer to complete one hole.
  • Blue: Bogey – a score of 1 over par on a hole.
  • Dark Grey: Double Bogey – a score of 2 over par on a hole.
  • Red: Birdie – a score of 1 under par on a hole (e.g., scoring 4 on a par-5).
  • Green: Eagle – a score of 2 under par on a hole.

Strokes Received: These are shown as dots under your strokes on the scorecard (see image above) or under the hole numbers when you tap the bottom bar to open the tray (image below). Each dot represents an extra stroke you receive for that hole, based on your Playing Handicap. The strokes are distributed according to the hole's Stroke Index, indicating where your handicap gives you an advantage.
