LivePlay: Play Golf With Your Friends

LivePlay is here! This new feature changes the way you enjoy golf with your friends. Whether you’re playing now or scheduling a round for later, LivePlay makes it easier than ever to set up games, keep scores, and track results in real-time.

 

1. Set Up Your Round

  1. Open the Hole19 app, choose your course, and tap Play Golf. 
  2. Decide whether to Play Now or Schedule a Round
  3. Choose Scoring mode (LivePlay is not YET available in Shot-by-Shot mode). 
  4. Select General Play mode (LivePlay is not YET available in Match Play mode).

2. Add Players and Organize Groups

  • Tap Add Player to invite your Hole19 Buddies (up to 100 players!).
  • To edit a player’s starting tee or handicap, tap on their photo.
  • Need to add a guest? Simply enter their name, handicap, and email to include someone who doesn't use the Hole19 app. They'll appear on the leaderboard during play, and automatically receive their scorecard by email after the round.

Group Organization Options:

Once you've added your players, you can optionally tap Draw to organize your groups:
Random – Shuffles players into random groups.
Handicap-Based – Creates groups with similar handicaps.
Balanced – Mixes high and low handicaps for fair teams.

Need to swap players? Long press on their profile to move them between groups.

3. Entering Scores

Before LivePlay, one person had to manually enter all scores - which is still an option! But now, players can also add their own scores in real-time, with automatic synchronization across all devices that have joined the round!

4. Adjust Settings During the Round

Need to make changes after starting? No problem! Tap the settings cogwheel (top right corner) to:
Edit your buddies
Change groups
Add or remove players

5. Leaderboard

Check the new Leaderboard button in the bottom right corner for instant access to all players' positions and scores. Want to share your round with friends? Just tap the share icon in the top right corner.

6. Scheduling a Round

How to Schedule a Round:

  • Choose your course, then select Play Golf.
  • Tap Starts and pick a date & time for the round.
  • Press OK, then Finish Scheduling at the bottom.
  • Edit starting tees/handicaps (if needed ) and press Save.

Add your regular buddies or guests as before. Use the Draw feature to easily organize groups. Adding players now is optional for scheduled rounds—you can always invite them later. When you're ready, simply tap Done.

Your scheduled rounds will appear under the Play Golf tab. Tap a round to edit date, time, or players, or delete it by pressing "…" in the top right corner.

How to Join a Scheduled Round:

  • If a buddy invites you, you’ll get a notification (make sure notifications are enabled).
  • You’ll also see the invite when you open the Hole19 app.
  • Tap the invite to see details, players, and add new players.
  • If you change your mind, tap “…” in the top right to leave the round.

Notes:

  • LivePlay is FREE on both Android and iOS – make sure to update to the latest Hole19 version to access it. Please note that the leaderboard creator and all participants must be on the latest version to join and play.
  • For scheduled rounds, the "Start Round" button activates at midnight on the selected day, giving you flexibility with your tee time.
  • Make sure notifications are enabled to receive round invites from other players.
