You can turn GPS Mode On and Off during a round.
Tap the Settings cogwheel in the upper right corner and turn GPS Mode 'On' to get automatically updated GPS distances from your actual location on the course.
You can turn GPS Mode 'Off' to manually add Shots in Shot-By-Shot Mode (Advanced Input), or drag the position icon around the hole while not actually on the golf course. It's important to disable this feature if you're looking to edit a round or when you are at home testing the app.
