What is Better Ball?
Better Ball is a fun, team-based golf format where two players form a team. Each player plays their own ball on every hole, and the team’s score for that hole is the lowest score between the two players. It’s a great way to add a little competition and teamwork to your round!
How to Start a Better Ball Side Game
1. Choose your course and tap Play Golf. In the Round Settings, make any adjustments you’d like and then tap Create Round.
2. Before creating your side game, make sure to add your friends to your Group on the Round Details screen. This step is important, only players added here will appear as options when setting up your side game.
3. From the Round Details screen, look just below the Leaderboard card for the Side Game section. Tap Add > to start creating your game.
4. Select your scoring mode: Stableford or Stroke Play. Assign your players to their teams. Tap Add Side Game to confirm and get started.
During the Round
Play and record scores as usual. To view standings, tap the 🏆 trophy icon in the bottom-right corner of the Scoring or Aerial View screens.
You’ll see:
The main leaderboard for your round (General Play or the game mode you selected), and
A Better Ball tab showing your side game leaderboard and team results.
Tips for a Smooth Experience
Always add players to your group before creating your side game. Players can’t be added to the side game afterwards.
If you’d like to adjust your team setup, double-check before starting the round.
