Installation

To install Hole19 on your Wear OS smartwatch, follow these steps:

  1. Pair your Wear OS smartwatch with your Android smartphone
via the Wear OS by Google Smartwatch app.
  2. Download the latest version of Hole19 from the Google Play Store
    onto your Android smartphone.
  3. Download the Hole19 app from your watch's own Play Store.
  4. Hole19 will appear automatically on your Watch within a few minutes.

If you're having issues with the app not downloading directly on your Watch, you can manually search for the Hole19 app on the Play Store and download it.

After pairing both devices, when you start a round on the phone, the round also starts on the watch. If it doesn't, please follow these instructions.

GPS Source

Swipe left to access the GPS Source toggle and choose whether the app uses your watch's own GPS or your phone's GPS. When the Watch GPS toggle is blue (on), the watch uses its own GPS. When it's grey (off), it uses the phone's GPS instead, so keep your phone within about 15 metres during the round.

Distances Screen

The main watch screen shows the hole you're currently playing (with a flag icon) and live GPS distances to the front, center and back of the green. A GPS accuracy indicator sits above the hole number, so you always know how reliable your current position is. The Par and Stroke Index for the hole are shown at the bottom of the screen.

If you're using Shot Tracking (Premium/Intelligence), you'll also see the distance of your last shot in a small pill below the hole number, as shown on the left.

Moving Between Holes

You have a few ways to move between holes on your watch:

  • Swipe up to move to the next hole.
  • Swipe left twice and select a specific hole number from the list.
  • Swipe right once to enable the Watch Crown, then use it to scroll through holes.

Auto-Change Hole (Premium/Intelligence) automatically detects when you've moved to the next hole using GPS, so the watch updates without you having to swipe or scroll.

Plays Like Distances (Premium/Intelligence)

Plays Like adjusts your distances to account for course elevation, so the number you see reflects how the shot will actually play rather than the flat, straight-line distance. On your watch, swipe left from the Distances Screen to open Settings, scroll to Plays Like, and tap to turn it ON (blue) or OFF (grey). Once it's ON, the Back, Center and Front distances on your watch update automatically to show the Plays Like distance instead of the raw distance, and Club Recommendations (if enabled) adjust to match.

Course Map (Premium/Intelligence)

If you have a Premium or Intelligence subscription, tap the Map icon to open the aerial view of the hole. Drag the target marker anywhere on the map to check the distance to that point, shown on the left. Tap the flag icon (top, next to hole number) to jump back to the pin, or tap the X to close the map and return to the Distances Screen.

Club Recommendations (Intelligence)

While you're on the map, Premium/Intelligence subscribers also see a club suggestion at the top of the screen, based on the distance to your target. In the example on the left, the app suggests using the Driver ("Dr").

Scoring From Your Watch (Premium/Intelligence)

Copy of Layout (2 Wear) (1).png

After finishing a hole, swipe left to the Input Score screen to add your strokes without picking up your phone. Use the minus and plus buttons to adjust the number of strokes for each player, swipe up and down to fill other details (putts, fairways...) and swipe left or right (or use the dots at the bottom) to move between players in a multiplayer round.

Finishing Your Round

You can finish a round directly from your watch, but you'll need to return to your Android phone to save it properly. If the connection between your devices is unstable, head back to your phone before finishing the round, then tap Save Round on the phone to record your results.

Free vs. Premium - What's Included on Your Watch

Not all watch features are available on every plan. Here's how Free and Premium compare for the smartwatch experience:

Feature Free Premium / Intelligence
Distances to front, center & back of green
Hole number, Par & Stroke Index
GPS Accuracy indicator
Switch between watch GPS and phone GPS
Distances to hazards
Scorecard (enter scores from your wrist)
Shot tracking
Course map view
Auto-change hole
Round notes & highlights
Club recommendations
Plays Like distances

On Free, the Shot Tracking and Maps buttons are visible on the watch screen but require a Premium or Intelligence subscription to use. Upgrading unlocks the full on-course experience directly from your wrist.
