Activate Health Information

Hole19 can use data from your phone’s Health app to show steps, distance walked, and calories burned in your Round Summary. This article explains how to enable health data sharing on Android and iOS, and how calorie values are calculated.

How can I share health data with Hole19?

Android

Open the Hole19 app > select a course > tap 'Play Golf'. On the Round Setup screen, scroll until you see the 'Track Health Data' toggle to 'Allow' Hole19 to track this information.

iOS

Open the Hole19 App > tap the 'Performance' tab > choose the round for which you want to track health information (you only have to do this once; after authorizing, it will always track your health data). In the 'Round Summary', scroll down and tap the 'Authorize' button. Turn on the health categories that you want the app to track:

  • Allow Hole19 to write data: 'Active energy' and 'Workouts'.
  • Allow Hole19 to read data: 'Active energy', 'Steps', and 'Walking + Running energy'.

Tap 'Allow', and you will then see Health Information on the 'Round Summary'.

If you want to see Calories Burned in the Hole19 app, you should insert your Weight in the Health app.

How calories are calculated in Hole19

Key points to understand

  • Hole19 does not start an active workout session

  • Calories shown are:

    • Estimated, or

    • Imported from Apple Health, when available

  • Hole19 does not track golf as a live workout.

What this means in practice

  • Calorie values may be lower or different than Apple Fitness or other workout apps

  • There is no live heart-rate-based calorie calculation

  • Values are based on:

    • Step count

    • Distance walked

    • Available Health data

    • System estimations provided by the device

Troubleshooting

If health data is not appearing:

  • Confirm all Health permissions are enabled

  • Check that Fitness Tracking is turned on (iOS)

  • Make sure your device supports step and motion tracking

  • Restart the Hole19 app and your phone
