How Auto Shot Detection works (Intelligence)

Jump to

Auto Shot Detection tracks your movement during the hole and suggests where shots may have been played so you spend less time logging and more time playing. Available with Intelligence.

How Auto Shot Detection Works

  • The app tracks your movement throughout the hole.
  • When you stop moving, it may suggest that a shot was played.
  • Suggested shots appear as gray circles with a "+" on the map. These are proposals only, not saved shots.

At the end of the hole or round, tap each "+" to confirm the shot and fill in any missing details like club and lie. The app will prefill the club based on your My Bag section, and the lie using automatic lie detection when available.

A gray + appears on the hole map where a shot was detected, then turns into a saved shot once confirmed.

How to Enable Auto Shot Detection

  • Start a round.
  • On the hole flyover of any hole, tap the cogwheel on the right side of the screen.
  • Enable Auto Shot Detection.

For the most accurate results, start the hole with Shot Tracker and keep Auto Shot Detection on at the same time.

What to Expect

You may see a "+" somewhere you didn't play a shot. This is expected. Auto Shot Detection only suggests locations, it never saves a shot automatically. If a "+" appears where you were standing still or waiting, ignore it and don't confirm it.

Why isn't Hole19 Detecting My Shots?

If Auto Shot Detection missed a shot or put the "+" in the wrong place, here's why it happens and how to correct it.

  • Why a Shot Gets Missed
Auto Shot Detection works by noticing when you stop moving. If you stop for another reason, or don't stop for long enough before you hit, a shot can be missed or placed slightly off. Common causes are pausing to place your bag, waiting on the group ahead, or taking extra time over the ball.

  • The Fastest Fix
Tap the nearest gray "+", confirm it, then add any missing shots in order.

  • Adding the Shot Yourself
Gray "+" suggestions can't be moved. If none of them is close enough, add the shot with Shot Tracker and drag it to the right spot.

Shots are always saved in sequence, and distances are measured from the tee or from your last saved shot, so the order matters more than the timing.

Next time, start the hole with Shot Tracker and keep Auto Shot Detection on at the same time. That's the most accurate combination.
