Write down what you learn about a hole, and it stays there. Next time you play that course, the note is waiting for you on the tee.

Before the Round
From the Play Golf tab, tap the Preview button for the course you are about to play. Go to a hole, and tap the Notes icon in the top right. Write what you want to remember and save it.
You have time to look at the hole properly, think about where the trouble is and what club you want off the tee, and write it down without a group waiting behind you.
During the Round
Start a round and tap the Notes icon in the top right of the hole map. Write the note and save.
This is for what you only find out by standing there. The bunker that is closer than it looks. The green that runs away from you. The tee shot that needs less club than the yardage says.
After the Round
From the Performance tab, tap Rounds and choose one of them. Tap to open the Round Summary and then tap the 3-dot icon on the top-right, and then tap Edit Round. Tap the Notes icon, write and tap save.
Some things only make sense once the hole is over. Writing the note while it is fresh beats trying to remember it the next time you stand on that tee.
Keeping Your Notes
One note per hole. Open a hole that already has a note, and you are editing the one that is there, not starting a new one.
A blue dot marks the holes you have written about. If the Notes icon has a blue dot, there is something saved for that hole. Tap it to read or change it.
The note belongs to the hole, not to the round. It is saved against that course and that hole number, so it comes back every time you play there. Play the same course twenty times, and you end up with your own guide to it.
No signal, no problem. Write a note in a dead spot on the course, and it saves on your phone, then uploads by itself when you have a connection again.
Notes
Not on watches
- Notes work on iOS and Android phones. You cannot write or read them on Apple Watch or Wear OS.
